A Staff Sergeant in the Merrit RCMP detachment is on the wrong end of the law after allegations he stole cocaine from a police exhibit.
E-division Chief Superintendant Mike Sekela says as soon as the RCMP became aware of the incident they acted.
Sekela says “On Firday January 6th we became aware that Staff Sergeant Stewart Seib stole and used drug exhibits I have ordered a statutory investigation and an internal code of conduct investigation to be initiated.”
As for where Stewart Seib is today Sekela says “Staff Sergeant Stewart Seib was arrested yesterday today he was charged with theft and additional charges are pending.”
Sekela adds Sieb has also been suspended and banned from all RCMP facilities.
He is also recomending Sieb not be paid, that decision will be made this week.
