Minor Hockey is a Rough Sport. Get it! There will be injuries. Some are built for it and some are not and just like all sports not all are created equal. It almost seems that some kids do not want to play (pressured by their parents) as you can tell they are scared and nervous when they are on the ice. These are the same kids that should be in a non contact league that is organized with practices and games on the weekends. Go to the ones outside the PCAHA. My sons first shift in pee wee he got rocked, people cheered for the one who checked him and when he got up he went to the bench gave me the nod I’m o.k. As that season went on he learned to take a hit and started giving them. Quickly he knew where to be on the ice to avoid danger. No I did not write to my Director to change the game so my son can play. I am finding the kids coming into pee wee are small and when they get hit they play it up…..they are usually the ones who come out on the next shift and score. No my son will not make Jr.s but playing the game the way it is meant to be played is what he wants. Keep the winers out! The winers ruined this game.
