The District of Lillooet will receive close to $5.6 million through Canada’s Gas Tax Fund to establish a new water source for the community.

Residents can estimate their 2012 municipal taxes using an online calculator. The city is also reminding property owners that a change in assessment values does not necessarily result in an equivalent percentage change in municipal taxes.

The City of Parksville waived approximately $274,773 in municipal fees and development cost charges for the project. The Regional District of Nanaimo waived $109,896 in development cost charges. The Parksville Lions Housing Society provided the land valued at $635,000.

750 members of CUPE 401 have approved a new deal that includes a two per cent wage increase in each of the three years, as well as significant improvements to extended health care coverage and improvements to the language.

Wastewater treatment in Abbotsford, Mission, Sumas and Langley will receive a substantial upgrade thanks to $8.1 million from Canada’s Gas Tax Fund. Upgrades will benefit the Fraser River and increase the plant’s flow capacity to serve local residents.
